DIRT(cheap)PAD©, V1.20 Information 4/96 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This program is "almost, kinda, sorta" freeware. If you have registered any of my other 3 shareware programs (RESDUET+, PLAIN OL' BUTTON BAR or YOUR FILE CABINET) then you are already registered for this. All you need to do is place a copy of the *.MDG file from one of the other programs into the same directory as DIRTPAD.EXE (or place DIRTPAD.EXE in the other program's directory). In fact, if you place DIRTPAD.EXE in the same directory as one of the above programs, a menu item for DIRTPAD will automatically become available for quick access. You must have the most recent version of these programs (dated from 4/96) for this feature to work. If you like DIRT(cheap)PAD and want the "almost, kinda, sorta" free registration, just register one of my other programs (as listed above). It's like BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE. These other programs are all available on CompuServe (several forums), the Internet, various BBS's around the country and on many CD's AND the registrations are only $15(US) for RESDUET+© and PLAIN OL' BUTTON BAR© or $30(US) for YOUR FILE CABINET©. See below for NEW availability to register DIRT(cheap)PAD. You can check out my World Wide Web site on the Internet (The Kamikaze Connection) to download any of these programs (the info and link to my shareware page is near the bottom of the www page). The URL is http://www.mindspring.com/~mg72144/kamikaze.html and looks best using the Netscape viewer. (If you're reading this in DIRTPAD, double-click the above http://...html line to see a new feature, then read about it below). This is where you can learn about my upcoming book, How To Become A Kamikaze Pilot: The Training Manual©. The files to look for are RESDUET+ (resdu2a.zip), PLAIN OL' BUTTON BAR (plainbar.zip) and YOUR FILE CABINET (filecab.zip). NEW!!! NEW!!! NEW!!! There is now a separate registration for DIRT(cheap)PAD so if you want it and don't want to register any of the other programs, just send a check for $15(US) (plus $5.00 shipping outside the continental USA) to: Michael Grice 3036 The Falls Parkway Duluth, GA 30136 DIRT(cheap)PAD can also be registered by CompuServe's Software Registration service (SWREG) using ID #10988. U S E A T Y O U R O W N R I S K ################################################################################# DIRT(cheap)PAD Features: NEW!!! If there is an Internet WWW site's complete URL in your text file and you double-click anywhere on the site's listing, a box will popup with 3 choices: 1: To open it in your favorite WWW browser (which you setup by clicking the menu item Options...WWW Browser) 2: To send it (copy it) to a pre-determined text file for later use (setup by clicking the menu item Options...Set URL Text File). This will also copy it to the Clipboard. If you collect a list of WWW site URL's in a separate text file to visit at a later time when you go online, this will add the one you double- click to that list after you set it up. 3: To copy it to the Clipboard. Also, improved startup loading speed in this version. The standard features: A) Edit very large text files 2) Search hard drive for file then double-click to open in DirtPad (if file-type is associated to DirtPad) 3) Text Search and Replace remembers previous 10 search words/phrases D) Button bar with most functions available. E) Click button to load DOS/Windows system files F) No useless help file (in fact, no help file) 7) Set font style, size and color and textpad backcolor 8) Right-click different sections of status bar to open various functions H) Status bar info when mouse cursor over buttons & status bar 10) Right-click in textpad to open edit menu It is recommended that the Dirtpad directory be placed in your path (or the Dirtpad.exe be placed in a directory in your path). DIRT (cheap) PAD "Undocumented Features": 1) Recent files list doesn't delete the menu item and re-order the list after a file is deleted from the File*Delete File menu. The file is deleted though. B) Edit menu items aren't disabled when not applicable (big deal) 3) If you double-click a text file associated with DirtPad and DirtPad is already open, it does not load the file in DirtPad. These, unfortunately, will take much more time than originally estimated to fix but will be fixed in a later version (when time permits). $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ To run DIRT(cheap)PAD you will need the VBRUN300.DLL Visual Basic runtime file (found on most BBS's) in your Windows or Windows/System directory (as long as this is in your path statement). Then add a new program item to one of your groups (File*New*OK, etc.) using the icon with DIRT (cheap) PAD. The files included with DIRT(cheap)PAD are: 1) dirtpad.exe dirtpad.txt - this file To be placed in any directory. B) threed.vbx cmdialog.vbx commdlg.dll csform.vbx cscmd.vbx emedit.vbx mlist.vbx qpro200.dll ctl3d.dll These files need to be placed in your Windows directory (or Windows\System if in your path) if you don't already have them. (Please make sure this is the most recent version). 3) dirtpad.ini Will be created in the same directory as the main dirt.exe file. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% That's about all for me.
